Dealing with Fear
Training through the field of fears
The Field of Fears is a short one to two days training program that is designed to assist participants in overcoming or reducing fear.
While fear is a natural internal mechanism that is designed to keep us safe, it often happens that the system had been programmed with fears that are not natural and stand in the way of one’s organic life progression. This can happen because of certain prints that were put there in young age, or because of trauma, and such fears will differ from one individual to another.
The training takes the participants through a process that begins with a general explanation about the nature of fear, and the difference between fear, worry and anxiety. It also touches upon the difference between natural and unnatural fears.
The rest of the training is very practical and experiential. Participants are invited into an area called ‘The Field of Fears’ where they go through a process that helps in identifying one’s own fears; the training then continues with participants making a choice about a short list of very specific fears that they want to deal with. At some point in the training, some simple techniques of reducing and dealing with fear are taught and practiced.
The Field of Fears program was done with great success with a large array of audiences – from teenagers to adults and with people who managed to overcome mundane fears to others who participated because they had to deal with the lingering effects of a serious trauma.
